She showed up at the Bloom office in cut off jeans and with hair just as wild as her laugh, and that’s when I fell in love with her! She’ll break your heart and put it back together all in the same sentence. And, just like all of us, she’s navigating her way through life and finding genuine ways to connect and grow.

Meet Jessica Spieth, wife, mother, hippy and founder of the HÓZHÓ project. The HÓZHÓ project is an organization that focuses on stories and photos about real people. Using gorgeous black and white photos of people to highlight their strength and beauty in the midst of heartache, Jessica tries to take the shame out of pain. Hers is a project that is dependent on the willingness of others to share – share their pain, share their suffering, share their thoughts, and share their beauty.

In this episode we’ll learn something about the Navajo language, the power of a black and white photo, and how the book, The Princess Bride changes lives.

A special thanks to Jessica because not only is she the teller of this story, but she gave us the chance to use some of her original music. Hear the full song and download the track here.

Also, I can’t let this podcast publish without giving my hand to the heart of all who have lost a child. A few years ago, my best friend grieved and wept over the tiniest doll-like dress. It was hand-made and given for babies born too soon. I will never forget the impact of this quiet loss on our lives and our friendship.

This one’s for you baby Olive.
