For all of our members in the United States, welcome back from the Fourth of July weekend. We’d also like to wish our friends in Canada a belated Canada Day. Holidays are great, but the late nights, sugary treats, and proximity to family can take its toll on our bodies and our emotions. That’s why Bloom is bringing you resources for boosting your personal strength and sense of identity.
This month we are focusing on ways to build self-confidence, inner peace, and resiliency. Trauma can completely skew our reality and make it hard to believe in our abilities and goodness. How we view ourselves deeply affects how we interact with others. Anna Quindlen said that, “The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.” Any work on ourselves must start with self-compassion.
Maybe you have been in a situation where you have been taught to believe that you don’t matter; maybe circumstances have made you question yourself. Maybe you are trying to make positive changes, but you feel like nothing will ever change. Take a moment and practice some self-compassion: “being warm and understanding toward ourselves when we suffer, fail, or feel inadequate, rather than ignoring our pain or flagellating ourselves with self-criticism.”
Start by being on your own side. Then check out some of the content we have planned for you this week. We are featuring several classes that will help you tap into your awesomeness as women and as mothers. Stay tuned for our Love Rice podcast that celebrates sharing our vulnerability to take the shame out of pain.
Celebrate your strength this week. Celebrate the power of you. And as always, Bloom is here to cheer you on!
