I was going to write that Caitlin Connolly ?sat down to talk with me, ? but I realized we never sat down. We were too busy moving around looking at all the interesting art at various levels of completion in her amazing home studio. When someone loves what they do, it becomes a part of them, and this is certainly true with Connolly. She can?t help but make the connections not only between art and life, but between art and the process of becoming.
In these short videos, Connolly speaks of art, life, motherhood, womanhood, creativity, change, pain, joy, disappointment, balance, and her dogs. I?m excited she shared her ideas so generously in this forum. She offers such unique insight, nuggets of universal truths, an interesting perspective from the inside of womanhood and the outside of motherhood. Most powerfully, she explains her creative process and uses art as a metaphor for life. Working through creating a painting works as a metaphor to working through change, disappointment, or challenges as we develop and change ourselves.
Caitlin Connolly has a real, honest, powerful way of expressing the strength and capacity women hold. She has the ability to show the struggle between opposing forces and themes in women?s lives in beautiful, moving ways that reveals an ultimately hopeful approach to art and life.
