Why is it that when things get stressful or fall apart in our lives, we stop taking care of ourselves? This week is all about learning how to nourish our bodies, our minds, and our spirits.
On Love Rice, our podcast, Scabs interviews lifestyle, nutrition, and fitness coach Angela Martindale. Through all that she has been through, Angela learned a lot about the importance of self-care. “This the only body that I have. I’ve found my space of what works for me. I’ve found yoga, meditation, and just really loving this body. Like, you have to love it; it’s the only one that you have. Nutrition is a huge part of that. Hydration is a huge part of that. Movement that feels good to your body is a huge part of that.”
Angela says the best way to start caring for ourselves is to master one thing at a time, like walking one day a week, or showering as soon as you wake up. Once you master that, move forward. Walk two days a week, wear your favorite blouse, or get a pedicure. Master that. Then the key is to be consistent. If you need someone to keep you accountable, tell your best friend, sister, or mom about your goals. Check in and tell them about your successes and get insights about your failures. There are also some great fitness and goal apps that can remind you to take care of you.
We also have some great updates to our online courses at Bloom. This week we are featuring our meditation class from Dallin Bruun. Mindfulness meditation is an ancient art, backed by science, proven to alleviate stress and bring health to the mind, emotions, body, and spirit. Join our meditation instructor Dallin as he takes you through short guided mindfulness exercises and introduces you to the benefits of using mediation in your life.
And of course, look for inspiration and insights on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter platforms. Our Pinterest Self-care board also offers more resources and tips. So maybe this week you can commit some time to yourself, take some deep breaths, and refill your bucket. Remember, even through the hard things of life, we can still find the power to bloom.
